Newfoundland has been estimated to have a black bear population of 10,000 animals, and have been recorded in excess of over 700 lbs in Newfoundland.

Black Bears mostly feed on young moose, caribou as well as vegetation and berries. Record breaking Black Bears have been taken in Newfoundland in the past, and it is believed that will be again in the near future.

Buck Lake Adventures offers both Spring and Fall Black Bear Hunting. We hunt with tree stands over bait in the spring, and fall hunting is normally spot and stalk, which we do easily over the cut-overs and barrens, while bears are feeding on berries.
