Moose can be found all over Newfoundland with a population that is estimated to be 120,000 – 140,000. Moose are the largest member of the deer family with males known as bulls weighing over 1000 lbs and standing over 7 feet tall. The female or cows are slightly smaller.

The mating season takes place in the fall, usually near the end of September until the end of October. This is when bulls are can be easily called into close range.
